Find out more: https://www.facebook.com/Doctors.of.Reasoning.and.Ideas/ --- ABOUT BEN SIR (歐陽偉豪) Benjamin Au Yeung Wai Hoo (Ben Sir), is a scholar in Linguistics. Apart from his career in academia, Benjamin is also a host, actor and the former senior lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Department of Chinese Language and Literature. Benjamin finished a Bachelor’s degree in English and Master of Philosophy at Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1995 and in 1997 respectively. He obtained his PhD at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2005. Awarded “LSHK Outstanding Thesis Award” by the Linguistic Society of Hong Kong, Benjamin’s academic publications were cited by top universities, such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and University of Cambridge etc. Besides his career in education, Benjamin writes columns for “Ming Pao”. His passages are extended to other media platforms, such as “Hong Kong Economic Journal”, “The Sing Tao Daily” and “Oriental Daily News” as well. In the movement of Cantonese conservation, he supports the promotion of Cantonese and the use of traditional Chinese characters, determined to save Cantonese from a slow death. He is well-known for explaining the use of Cantonese words and grammar in a humorous way. In 2016, he was nominated for the “Best Host” by “TVB Awards Presentation 2016” when he appeared on a local television programme, “Sermon By Sir Ben”. The scholar-turned-celebrity wishes that being in the entertainment industry would allow him to promote the culture and the dialect through different performances, combining academia and entertainment. --- ABOUT SIMON SHEN (沈旭暉) Dr. Simon SHEN is the President of Yew Wah Global Institute of Lifestyle and Management, and Founding Chairman of the international relations start-up company GLOs (Glocal Learning Offices) comprising of a series of companies in the field of education, research, creative and intellectual travel. A graduate of the University of Oxford and Yale University, Dr. Simon SHEN is one of the few international relations scholars originating from Hong Kong who has earned both international and local recognition. He has published over 70 academic articles, including in the prestigious China Quarterly, China Review, and Journal of Contemporary China. In the domestic society, he is regarded as one of the most representative scholars in the younger generation due to his active participation in public affairs as a public intellectual and a think tanker. His social media channel, intended to make international relations more accessible, is highly popular among netizens. Currently Dr. SHEN is an adjunct associate professor of the University of Hong Kong and Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he served as the Founding Director of its Global Studies Programme and Master of Global Political Economy Programme, and is holding adjunct research positions at Tsinghua University and Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, among others. He has served as senior visiting fellow or visiting fellow of National University of Singapore, Brookings Institution, Warwick University, Ryukyu University, among others. Dr. SHEN is also a lead writer (Global) of Hong Kong Economic Journal, International Relations Consultant of Bloomberg Business Magazine and Consultant of New York Times in Education. ABOUT DR JASON CHAN, JP (陳繼宇) Dr. Jason Chan, JP is Founder and Chairman of Totaltact Network, an e-think tank, by making use of artificial intelligence, machine learning and big data, to collect and analyze the views from social media and the public to form a mega cross-domain knowledge platform. And he is also Head of IT at The HK Polytechnic University’s College of Professional and Continuing Education. Dr. Chan is well-qualified with various degrees and credentials, including Doctor of Education (Bristol); Stanford Certified Project Manager (Stanford); Master of Educational Technology (UBC); MSc in Computing and BA (1st Hons) in Public and Social Administration (CityU). With a diverse academic background, he is an accomplished technology professional in artificial intelligence, big data, social media, strategy, management, leadership, e-governance and research methodology. Active in public and community service, apart from being a Justice of the Peace, Dr. Chan is serving on various committees and panels in: Innovation and Technology Venture Fund, Innovation and Technology Fund, Quality Education Fund, Education Development Fund, Child Development Fund, Hong Kong Judiciary, Transport and Housing Bureau, Property Management Services Authority, Consumer Council, etc. As for voluntary and professional affiliations, he is Associate Vice-President of UNESCO HK Association; Chairman of HK Mensa: The High IQ Society; Vice President of HK Public Administration Association; Mentor of HK Science and Technology Park, etc. Dr. Chan is also a recipient of numerous awards, including: Ten Outstanding CIO and IT Executive (2017); and PolyU CPCE Dean’s Award for Outstanding Service Performance/Achievement (2015). As for the Totaltact Network, it has also received Bright Future SME’s Youth Creative Entrepreneurship Award (2018) and Outstanding Innovative Enterprise Award (2018). Requirements

All volunteer hours must be completed during 1 March to 20 August 2019.

Cost per person is HK$150 (Full-time students aged 25 or below)/ HK$250 (General Participants) to support the running costs of our charity and our mission to make volunteerism mainstream.

Dinner will be held at K11 ATELIER in Tsim Sha Tsui at 7:15pm-9:30pm on 29 August 2019. It will be conducted in Cantonese.
